I played volleyball in University. It was my passion and I absolutely loved playing it everyday. In my 4th year I blew out my knee. It was my first major injury that needed surgery and had a long rehab. The injury was going to take me out of the game for a lengthy period. I lost my biggest passion, which my world was centered on. During my first appointment with my doctor he gave me the greatest advice that I really needed at the moment. He told me, ‘this isn’t a period in your volleyball career, it’s just a comma.’ It’s advice that I take with me for any injury and that I like to give to my clients. Just because you are in pain now, doesn’t mean it will last forever. It is not the end, just a pause to what greatness can come.
I’m Karissa, owner of Kore Athletic Therapy. As an Athletic Therapist and Neuro-Reconditioning Specialist and I’m here to help you rehab and recover. The human body is incredibly adaptable and stronger than we realize. It is always changing and can be changed for the better, if we choose. That is why I believe that pain is only temporary and that no one should need to ever live in constant pain
