I’m Karissa—a certified Athletic Therapist, Massage Therapist, and Neuro-Reconditioning Specialist with a passion for helping you recover, move better, and live pain-free. I believe the human body is incredibly adaptable and resilient, capable of healing and lasting change with the right care and support. My approach is rooted in the belief that pain is not permanent, and no one should have to live in constant discomfort.
Born and raised in Fort McMurray she has called this community home for over 31 years. Karissa received her diploma in coaching and sports performance from Red Deer College and continued on to the University of Winnipeg to complete her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology Athletic Therapy in 2017. After doing some traveling after graduation Karissa Certified as an Athletic Therapist in November 2018. For the past 7 seasons Karissa has been the Head Athletic Therapist (AT) for the Keyano College Athletics department. As the Head AT for Keyano Karissa treated a wide variety of conditions and injuries helping athletes get back to the sport or activity they love. Karissa believes in being a forever student, always learning through experience and different courses. She continued her learning at the Alberta College of Massage Therapy completing her 2200 - Diploma with honorers with distinction in February 2025. She continued her education through different courses in concussion management, evidence based cupping, and neuro-reconditioning.
Karissa has always had a passion for sports, playing multiple sports growing up and continuing in post secondary playing Volleyball with the Red Deer College Queens and the University of Winnipeg Wesmen. Her excitement of sport is what gave her the drive to continue in this field of work. After suffering many injuries herself and experiencing her own rehabilitation she is very empathic to everyone’s injuries and wants to do everything she can to help them get back to their ‘sport.’ Although the title sounds misleading, athletic therapy is for everyone.
